HISTORY

Pillar completed 17th April 1940 costing £4.2s.9d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station SD80/T51 during 1945. Levelled for height to first class precision, tertiary standards in November 1956. Last maintained by the OS in October 1979.

 

SITE VISIT

Approached from southwest. Parked in Brellafield Drive, SD928099. Followed RoW along single track Moss Gate Road then onto mapped RoW at SD928101. This leads all the way to the trig. In grazing field on RoW, the mapped fence beside the trig is no longer there. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains original OS centre cap with shallow engraved letters. Flush bracket faces SSE, compass measurement 159°. All sight holes open, innards filled with debris. Full 360° panoramic view.
