G0679 - Glensburgh, Kerse Bridge

Second Geodetic Levelling, Scotland (1936-52).

Flush bracket G679 was used during the second geodetic levelling of Scotland, and was levelled with a height of 19.7980 feet [6.0344 metres] above mean sea level (Newlyn datum). It was included on the Linlithgow to Kincardine levelling line. Geodetic line G.247, levelled during 1942. The surveyor's description was E face, W parapet of Kerse Bridge, 10' N of junction of walls.

 

Third Geodetic Levelling, Scotland (1956-68).

This flush bracket was used again during the third geodetic levelling of Scotland. It was included on the Linlithgow to Stirling levelling line. Geodetic line G.344, levelled during 1958.

 

This marker was last verified in 1980. The OS Online Archive gives the description as Kerse Bridge parapet, SW side road, 6.7m NW from wall junction, centre of NE face.

 

SITE VISIT

Emplaced on bridge parapet facing ENE, ~54° across A905. Public pavement-side access. FB in good condition.
