S6913 - Caulkleys Bank

HISTORY

Pillar completed 7th March 1952 costing £15.1s.2d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station station SE97/T57 in 1954. Flush bracket S6913 was levelled for height to first class precision, tertiary standards in 1968. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in August 1984.

 

SITE VISIT

Approached from west. Parking spaces to east side of road at SE669782. Followed mapped track eastwards which passes trig. The stone built pillar is in good condition. Spider has OS centre cap with shallow engraved letters which may have been salvaged from another pillar. The flush bracket faces north, compass measurement 5°. All four sight holes open, pillar bolt visible. Intermittent open outlook as surrounding foliage permits.
