Cash Inspired
Portrait Photographer Johnny Ferris, 66, hangs his older camera models in the bedroom of his basement photography studio in Syracuse, N.Y. April 20, 2016. Ferris first began his career in 1973 as a Musician Photographer at the age of 17 when he accidentally bumped into the famous singer/song writer Johnny Cash in downtown Boston, Mass. Cash noticed Ferris’s Nikon F and began questioning him about the camera. After a brief conversation, Cash allowed Ferris to capture one portrait of him before he climbed into a limousine. From that day forward, Ferris has ventured every major music capital east of the Mississippi River collecting hundreds of musician's portraits.
