Sweeping CO2 off the Atmosphere by New Materials

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have been known to chemists for almost two decades now. This family of materials are extended networks of metal ions held together by organic linkers. Scientists have discovered new applications for these materials which can make our life greener.

Scientists discover new properties associated with the MOFs, created by “stitching” metal ions together using organic components. Recently, Omar Yaghi, a chemist from Jordan, has figured out that these materials are environment-friendly.
