Milky Way from King's Seat

The forecast was for clear skies and it was the new moon, so I got up at 2am for this and was back in bed on the stroke of 4. Wifey was not impressed as it had been -3 degrees and I was chilled to the bone. Good to be out in the silent frosty night along with the other creatures such as the Barn Owl I drove past.

As you can see our part of the world is not the best for viewing the MW in April, if at all. Rather a weak showing, but hey, Scotland has other world class assets. The glow in the sky is probably the town of Peebles. I have other shots where I've lit the trig pillar in the photo but I preferred this one.
