NGC 891 is an edge-on unbarred spiral galaxy at about 30 million light-years in Andromeda. It was discovered by William Herschel on October 6, 1784.

NGC 891 is like the Milky Way would appear if it were seen to edge-on. In fact both galaxies are considered very similar in terms of brightness and size.
