Lakeland's amazing "Ancient House"

Today home to a branch of the Lakeland kitchenware chain, both the exterior (with many fine pargeting panels, including four dedicated to the continents known at the time - Asia and Africa as here, plus Europe and the combined Americas) and the interior of this magnificent building have been restored in a manner that needs to be seen to be believed.

Also known as Sparrowes House, the Grade I listed building in Ipswich's Buttermarket area dates from the 15th century, with later additions including a new street front bearing the arms of Charles II as pictured.
