PHOTOGRAPHERS THOUGHTS …
Following on with one of my 5 favorite lifestyle portraits of our African trip …
The interest I had with this opportunity, was a story of two distinct personalities in these young girls faces. One of trepidation and lack of understanding of us tourists … and the other, of an interest to know more with scepticism.
I remember moving around before taking the shot, to eliminate elements that posed as distractions in the background. Post-crop centering of the two girls for balance, but allowing the front girl, who was dominating the shot, to have space, and to be looking in the image, to the left …
HINDSIGHT
Got away with this one with settings (lucky) 1/30th, f5.6, 400 ISO, at 35mm eq. of 275mm zoom.
What should have gone wrong … CAMERA SHAKE or MOVEMENT BLUR of subject … as I said, lucky …
AMBIENT LIGHT
6pm in early July, with the ambient light available, just after sunset. Liked the modelling light catching their foreheads …

Telling a story, Neutral space, Simplicity, Separation due to D of F, Sharpest subject creating the main focal point, and the eyes-have-it, Moment-in-time, Light & shade, Balance, Informal, Inquisitive, Trepidation, Scepticism, 2:3 format

1/30th, f5.6, 400 ISO, Manual Exposure based on blinking highlights in viewfinder, exposure meter & histogram to expose correctly for the brightest element in the image, EV 0, AF, RAW, Fuji X-T2, Fuji 100-400mm (185mm on cropped sensor)
ENHANCEMENT (Lightroom)
Tweaked image using Exposure, Highlights, Shadows sliders …
