One of many that form John Aldus's art work in the pavement of Marchmont Street, tribute to the tokens left by mothers with their children at the Foundling Hospital in the hope of one day being reunited, in the hope of inspiring passers-by to think about the problems of children then, now and in the future, for which "we are all, to varying degrees, socially and environmentally responsible". It invites us to reflect on the example of the Hospital's founder, retired sea captain Thomas Coram, who was appalled to find on his return to London so many children "left to die on dung hills".
