Target #3: Ilum
"Shit!" Van grunted as his head collided into the dashboard of his ship once again. The Phoenician had been hit from behind as Van Esos weaved through the surface canyons of the planet Ilum. He had been exploring new smuggling routes in the outer system, when he was inexplicably drawn to Ilum and, upon arriving on the surface, he stumbled upon an unmarked Imperial outpost. Being a resourceful man, Van knew that this information would be valuable to the right people, specifically the rebel alliance.
But the more he knew, the more valuable the intel would be, and Van could never pass up a big score. Not only could he make a few thousand credits, he could sic it to those Imperial dogs as well.
As it turned out, the outpost was heavily fortified, and the imperials didn't take kindly to trespassers. From what he could tell, it appeared to be a standard research outpost. However, upon further inspection, Van immediately recognised it as a repurposed Separatist testing facility. Van spent many years infiltrating testing facilities much like this during the Clone Wars. One of his most pivotal operations happened at this exact base on Ilum, nearly half a decade previous....
SCREEECH!
A loud screeching sound brought Van back to the present as his ship barely managed to squeeze through the small crevices of the canyon. A few second later he heard a defending explosion, signifying that he had lost at least one of the tie fighters trailing his escape. He didn't dare try to rise to the surface, as he already knew that staying low confused the Imperial's scanners. Once he got a safe enough distance away, he would pull out and make his jump to hyper speed.
But he felt strange leaving the planet, like there was something important awaiting him still on the snowy surface of Ilum....
