A plaque has been unveiled to commemorate the loss of an air crew in a freak training accident over Cannock Chase Bombing range.
On the night of 15/16 July 1944 Wellington bomber NC678 of No 30 Operational Training Unit was hit by the bombs from another plane over the bombing range. The aircraft crashed into fields nearby.
