Green Heron

The editing mistake on this photo makes me cringe. I should have saved a copy of the photo before editing it, but I was doing this on the plane ride home and had a lot of photos to go through. Ugh.
Anyways, I was photographing a hatch-year Black-necked Stilt when this Green Heron walked right in from of me! I was kneeling on a sandbar, close to a large patch of reeds. I hadn't yet seen a Green Heron in 2015 (most pathetic year bird ever), so it was pretty exciting to watch. Green Herons are my favourite heron, mainly because of their reclusive nature, as well as the fact they they look hilarious when they walk. This day was the first day of "real birding", and by that I mean away from the hustle and bustle of Puerto Vallarta. It was really fun, and I got lifers Sinaloa Crow, Yellow-winged Cacique, Rufous-bellied Chachalaca, and Golden-cheeked Woodpecker.
