Shishimai - Meiji/Taisho Era Odori Furisode - AFTER

Shishimai - The Lion Dances

So, I finally finished the repairs to one of the kimono that Fuyou sent me. As I've mentioned previously, I didn't attempt any cleaning on this one. I did however, repair a lot of the immanent holes in the lining and some weak spots in the outer fabric. This kimono will eventually need to be relined, but for now, the patch job will suffice.

Some great news about this kimono: there are some things you only notice while staring intently at a kimono looking for damage. Apparently, some of the small holes in the lining at the shoulders (which I initially mistook for insect holes) are actually pin-holes left behind by the presence of shoulder tucks! So, part of my repairs included restitching the shoulder tucks and reinforcing them a little.
