Folding Fans
This is an ANTIQUE Japanese Tsuke Obi. Tsuke obi are pre-tied obi used to make wearing kimono easier. This one likely originates in the early to Taisho (1912 - 1926) or early Showa Period (1926 - 1989). It features a lovely pattern of folding fans with pine boughs and plum blossoms. This easy obi comes with an obimakura (padding used to give the obi knot volume) sewn inside the otaiko portion. You can see it in the above photos. An obijime is also attached to the part of the obi that will wrap around the waist, and there are cotton ties to hold the obi in place when worn.
I have inspected this obi in detail and there are some small stains. Overall I would rate this easy obi in good antique condition. The obi itself is 100% silk while the ties are cotton.
