Bern, Rose Garden

From the Rose Garden a scenic panoramic view of the medieval town centre can be enjoyed. It is a well-kept Rosarium on a hill which was previously a cemetery and has now been converted into a park.

Bern is the capital of Switzerland and is referred to as the federal city by the Swiss. The population of Bern is just over 138,000 making it the fourth most populous city in Switzerland. The official language of Bern is German but the most spoken language is the Alemmanic Swiss German dialect called Bernese German. The historic Old Town of Bern became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and Bern is ranked in the top 10 cities in the world for quality of life. Bern was founded in 1191 by Berthold V, Duke of Zahringen.
