WEEK 52 – Barnes & Noble Ole Miss Relocation Revisited (II)

For our final pic of this set – and of Week 52, 2019’s last! – we’re quickly jumping over to the 2017-vacated west anchor space of the former Oxford Mall, the now-empty JCPenney shown above. As you can see, JCP’s labelscar is still clearly visible, and will likely remain as such until Ole Miss either finds a new tenant for this space or, more likely, converts it into more space for the university itself. Whatever the final plans for the interior of this space, you can see they’ve already jumped on the outside: note the newly-repaved parking lot in the foreground, freshly converted into yet more Park-and-Ride and Commuter spaces for campus drivers!

I haven’t managed to get a similar picture of the Barnes & Noble entrance now that they, too, have left the JAC, but surprisingly, there was less of a labelscar over there. (Of course, since Ole Miss freshly painted that façade blue only when B&N moved in, perhaps either the paint job was too new to develop a labelscar, or the labelscar, if it did exist, was just painted over with that same blue paint; who knows.) Likewise, the B&N signs that were added to the main roadside Oxford Mall sign have simply been covered over now that they’ve returned to the Student Union.

I’m a man of my word, so as I promised you earlier in this album, I will for sure have pics of the campus bookstore’s newer, bigger, and better Student Union home coming your way in the future. But for now, this is all I have for you from Oxford. Stay tuned for 2020’s first photoset next week! :)

These places are public so these photos are too, but just as I tell where they came from, I'd appreciate if you'd say who :)
