'Self-expression' - Basics

The image above is named 'Self-expression'. This is self-expression in its moment. Jackson Pollock inspired me to work with abstract expressionist drip-painting techniques. The close-up details influenced me to look into textiles and pattern making. The sharp colours and curvy lines in contrast with the motif-like background allowed me to envision a unique creation in mind. This piece is the base of the style of my upcoming work.

The image below is named 'Ripped'. I developed my Jackson Pollock-styled abstract expressionist drip painting technique into the piece to the right. After looking into soft materials, I explored rough textures that I could create a new piece with; denim was the first idea that I thought of. Not only is it hard, it’s also durable.

Those who worked in a physically demanding environment in the past wore denim as a uniform due to its resistance but now it fascinates me how it is worn as a fashion statement.
