First Cymru received six Turkish-built BMC 1100FEs in 2004 for Carmarthenshire CC school contracts that were awarded on the basis of the successful tenderer providing new vehicles. These operated from Llanelli and Carmarthen depots.
A seventh vehicle arrived in September 2005 in the shape of former MoD Wadham Stringer Vanguard-bodied 12m Dennis Javelin M626 XWS, acquired from Munden of Bristol. This was fitted with high capacity seating and was allocated fleet number 67501.
She subsequently took up the role of a driver training vehicle but was finally withdrawn in 2013. After lengthy periods in storage, she was sold for scrap in 2018.
My photo dates from February 2013 and shows her on West Way in Swansea, about to turn into the City Bus Station, and being followed by Wright Eclipse Urban-bodied Volvo B7RLE 69251.
