Rail Replacement - 22
The Pontypridd to Treherbert line has been closed since late April 2023 and is not due to re-open until February 2024. This is to enable Transport for Wales to deliver the South Wales Metro project in the Rhondda Fawr.
The closure has led to an extensive rail replacement service, provided in the main by Thomas of Rhondda, Teulu Travel and Stagecoach in South Wales, plus several others.
Stagecoach's Cwmbran depot received three Caetano Levante 2-bodied Scania K440EB4s - 59222, 59224 and 59225 - at the turn of the year, and, with Plaxton Elite i-bodied Volvo B11RT 54202, these are its regular performers.
59222, like 54202 and 59225, has received the white and green Specialist version of fleet colours and is captured leaving the temporary Treherbert terminus outside the Bute Lounge in December 2023.
