Tiger Time - 2

Silcox of Pembroke Dock ceased operations in June 2016, after having traded for 134 years.

The company built up a fleet of nearly 30 former MoD Plaxton Derwent II-bodied Leyland Tigers between 1997 and 1999. These were relatively low mileage and were new as left-hand drive, but converted to right-hand drive by Silcox. A small number survived right to the end, though not all were runners.

This May 2008 shot depicts two parked in a lay-by on the A478 south of Crymych, resting between the school peaks. This was in the days before the company decided that allover 'safe' yellow was a necessity for school contract vehicles.

Whilst E144 ODE retains her original rear emergency door layout, the other Tiger had been rebuilt by Silcox with an offside emergency exit, thus allowing for a rear bench seat and slightly higher seating capacity.
