Bleak... thanks OB... another pathetic gesture...

endorsed on camera with thoughtless gratitude and commendations by another misguided leader for what... a guided missile! Loss of opportunity to change and make a difference. Rather than the instant political gratification of that missile, why do they not plan over time to bring these people... I mean people like Emwazi; bring them to account for their deranged acts? To have them grow to understand where their own teachings depart from Islam. Have a core team of world faith-leaders earn their crust by cell visits to engage captive Daesh leaders and preachers in enlightened discussion. Certainly ending their misguided lives without prior warning is compliant to the terror group's methods. Offering no accountability, no dialogue and no change amidst the 'movement' and their followers. The context for barbarism simply feeds off this; grows and spreads!

Note: I wrote up my notes on this entry mid-evening and prior to any knowledge of the later Paris attacks and the understandable... yes but the rhetoric that arise from that with echoes of Bush's 'war on terrorism' which, given the disparate.. the fragmented nature of the nature of terrorism was at best not helpful. What (I think) the leader of the opposition attempted to articulate when he made his criticism of the decision to kill Emwazi (in my view) was simply picking up on our inability to learn from previous and grave mistakes in ways that will never lead the way out of fear to peace, trust and freedom from fear.
