HDR 1- Orange MG Car

Objective 3: Composition Techniques – Use the guide on the website

1. Rule of Thirds- The headlight is not right in the middle so it looks better to the eye

2. Perspective and depth- It has good perspective and depth because the car looks bigger than it really is and it looks close to the camera

3. Fill the Frame- The car takes up most of the image

4. Backgrounds- The background is simple with no clutter

9. Colour- The orange is a warm colour and makes the image look nice

10. Diagonals- Some of the lines on the car are diagonal

11. Space and/or Space to Move- There is some space left in the image

Objective 4: Lighting: This photo has hard lighting which is why I made a HDR so the lighting didn’t ruin the photo and to make the photo better

Objective 5: Post Production: I converted it to a HDR; I made the car look unrealistic and also made the headlight stand out more. I also made the orange look darker.

Objective 6: Critique:

Strength: My strengths would be that the parts on the car stand out good, there is not too much clutter in the background, it has a good perspective and also good colour.

Area for growth: I could have tried to get less background

Objective 7: Photographic Styles (ex. portrait, landscape, etc.) – Explain why the settings and composition are appropriate for the style of photography. (How did you create the shot?)

Type/style of photography: HDR

The reason I choose to make this picture a HDR is to give it an edgy look. I also wanted to make the image look unrealistic. I shot 3 photos to do this HDR, I shot the first one at -3.0 and the second at 0 and I shot the third photo at +3.0 for the exposure. I used rules of thirds show that people would look towards the headlight. I used perspective to make to car look bigger and stand out more. I used a simple background so people would be more focused on the car. The colour of the car is a bright orange which is more appealing because most people like bright colours. The way I took the photo brings out the diagonal lines of the body on the car. The reason I took more than one photo at different exposures is to get a better HDR.
