Batman and Robin Pt.13-End of an Era

I arrived at the manor about when sunset would start to kick in, I had just finished getting groceries.

“Master Grayson, I got what you request…” what I see shocks me, and I let the bag of fruit slip through my hands.

THUD

I come running to the desk in Richard’s room, it’s empty, all except for one note. I come rushing down to the cave, Bruce isn’t there, probably out on patrol, so I decide to wait for his return. Such a cold, harsh cave, yet it holds life, and It also held happiness, for a short while at least. Bruce was dark and grim, only doing things out of vengeance, but then a human side opened up, and that happened at Haley’s Circus, when he saw a boy, down on his knees, crying away, overlooking his two parents, wrongfully killed by the evils of crime. He felt that he could make him better, and in return Grayson made his life happier, they went through some hard times, but for better or for worse, in these past months, they always stuck together, but now, with the birth of Two Face, and Deathstroke coming to town, things have gotten harder, Bruce took it personally, and Deathstroke, he seems to try and torment Bruce, that has caused the death of this family. The Batmobile pulls into the cave, and Bruce hops out. Alfred, is something wrong?” he asks, questioning my reason for coming down here.

“Master Grayson…he’s… runaway” I hand him the paper and he reads it over, a sadness overtakes his face, with the realization that Dick was gone now, and knowing that he pushed him away. I know Bruce cared for him, he put him out of the Robin position to protect him, he didn’t want to hurt him, but didn’t know how to do something like that, without damaging the relationship.

“Alfred, take this suit and put it next to the Robin one, I’ll be using the old one now” he makes his way to the stairs, I’m sure he might be upset about this, Dick was the closest thing he had to a son, and I know he loved him as if he were his own.

“Take one last look Alfred, then seal up those old memories forever, things are going back to the way they were before…Batman and Robin is over” I feel a tear come down my face, as I realize what’s happening, It’s done. He heads up to his room, and I look around this cave one last time, I feel the happiness that it held slowly fade away, hopefully things can go back, but knowing Bruce that may never happen.

So part thirteen is out, figured I should tell you guys this, but the photo was based off a silver age cover with a similar concept, anyways looking back at it now, I see how i completely covered Alfred's face with the light, but I'm already happy with how this turned out so I'll be fine, anyways hope you enjoyed and have a good day.
