Brinkworth Methodist Sunday School built 1930. Mid North South Australia
The trustees decided to build on the present situation. The land was presented by Mrs Geo Brinkworth, and a church was erected in 1895, and opened on May 12, 1895, by the Rev O Lake and Rev S C Mugford.
In 1896 the Brinkworth Trust bought the Boucaut church furniture, books, seats, organ, et., and the Boucaut congregation joined the Brinkworth church, and formed the first church of the Union in South Australia. The Bible Christians and Wesleyans supplied Brinkworth each alternative Sunday. This church did duty till 1907, when it was decided to build the present church. The foundation stone was laid by Mr K W Duncan MP and opened by the Rev C Martin (President of Conference). The Rev E W Caust was in charge of the circuit. The church was built at a cost of £420, and was opened free of debt. The old iron building was sold for £51.
In 1923 a memorial porch was erected, costing £176, and was opened by the Rev W W G Allanson free of debt.
The Sunday school having felt the need for increased accommodation, the Trust decided in January of this year to build a kindergarten hall, and accepted a tender at a cost of £690.
The foundation stone was laid by Miss L D Brinkworth on June 11. There was a large gathering of the residents of the district, and they were assisted by the President (Rev J H Allen BSc), the chairman of the District (Rev T Geddes White), Revs L M Humphery MA, and T Strange. The offering on the stone amounted to £43 14s 6d. The trustees hope to have the building completed by August.
The following ministers have supplied Brinkworth Church from 1875 to 1930:—Revs J Langsford, T Yoeman, W T Penrose, C Tresize, O Lake, W Richards, F Bullock, S C Mugford, J Blacket, W A Millikan, C E Schafer, S C Mugford (2nd term), H J Parkinson, E W Caust, J H \ Williams, D B Bridgewood, S R Rooney, T M Flood, A K I'Anson, W W G Allanson, W S Statton and A T Strange.
