Kangarilla Temperance Hall built by the Society of Good Templars, South Australia
The Kangarilla Temperance Hall built 1874–1875 of sandstone rubble by the Society of Good Templars whose objects included spreading enlightened opinions about the evils of intemperance and to have the temptation removed by legislative prohibition of the manufacture and sale of intoxicating liquors as a beverage.
The additions of 1930 added a room to each side of the hall giving the building the appearance of a church.
The entrance porch and verandah are later additions.
The hall is still is in use by the Kangarilla community. Proclaimed Tent 18 by the Independent Order of Rechabites 20-11-1882.
The Foundation stone of a Temperance Hall has been laid at Kangarilla by Mrs J Bottrill. A subsequent picnic was followed by a tea meeting, and afterwards addresses and recitations were given. Mr J Carr MP, presided. The Kangarilla Choir sang excellent music.
The financial results of the gathering were satisfactory, and the building, for which Mr G Prewett is the contractor, will add much to the picturesque appearance of the township. [Ref: South Australian Register 14-1-1875]

The opening of the Temperance Hall took place on Sunday the 23rd, when Mr J C Minns from Adelaide preached twice to large congregations. A picnic followed on Monday. At 4 o'clock tea was provided, of which about 300 persons partook.
The room was crowded, and £55 8s. 9d. was contributed towards paying the debt on the building. [Ref: South Australian Register 3-6-1875]
The foundation stone of the new portion of the Temperance Hall was laid by Mr W E Bottrill, of Adelaide. The ground on which the hall now stands was given by Mr Bottrill’s grandfather, and the foundation stone of the Temperance Hall was laid by his grandmother.
Mr L J Giles (chairman of the trust) presented Mr Bottrill with a silver souvenir.
