21 - Flight
This image was a photo that I took in a series inspired by nature, more significantly the beauty of birds. I maintained direct eye-contact to represent the power and dominance of birds of prey, while the delicate feathered headpiece that we made together portrays the fragility of the smallest birds, like the bee hummingbird. I was consistent in in keeping the background black to allow her to remain the focus. In addition to this I did her make up in the style of a parrot, using bright, contrasting colours, highlighting those in the headpiece. I wanted the image to have a grainy appearance, to give it an aged and vintage look, like the photographs of animals found in old nature books.
