Walter Macfarlane & Co. was considered the most important manufacturer of ornamental ironwork in Scotland. Founded in Glasgow by Walter Macfarlane I (1817-85), the firm opened its first premises in 1850, in Saracen Lane, in the Gallowgate.
The footbridge pictured connects the platforms of the Victorian-era railway station at Whitehead, County Antrim.
