In purple we have what the students in my 2019-2020 class knew about acceleration before we started. We had a pretty good idea beforehand. The only thing we really had to add was that acceleration includes anything that changes velocity

Slowing Down
Turning
I like to have students think of something called "The Dr. Pepper Test." If you aren't willing to have a large soda sitting on your dashboard while you drive a certain maneuver, that's probably an acceleration. The three things that would spill? Speeding up, slowing down, and turning. These are all accelerations.
