Green Bus 127 Dennis Trident/Plaxton President LR52KXE

Not very green, and unusually not on a school route, but this is one of 14 Tridents in use with the Hockley based operator. New to Metroline at Cricklewood as TP386, for use on route 16. It was operated by BakerBus in a smart Yellow and Blue livery from 2013 until 2015, when returned to Dawson’s Rentals. In 2016 it had swapped that livery for allover white, acquiring the strange square advert frame, which Leeds Grammar School used to display their logo, whilst it operated their feeder services. By 2019 it had a few more spells with other operators, before being acquired by The Green Bus with similar LR52 KWZ / TP381, which is in a gold livery, from time with JH Coaches. Both have 4-speed Voith gearboxes, and fairly tidy blue moquette refurbished by Dawson’s to all their Tridents.

Route 242 was taken on by Green Bus in 2020, following the withdrawal by Diamond of their 228 service, which was no longer viable due to the downturn of passengers due to covid-19. They have used a variety of double deckers on the service, more often B7TLs than Tridents. LR52KXE is certainly one of the rarer buses to make an appearance, so I took the opportunity to make my first trip on the 242 upon seeing this bus tracking. It is pictured here in Potters Cross, waiting time.
