Grey Cop Issue #6: Raid

A few VTOLs came picking us up as soon as possible. The Tranquility, now unconscious, was subsequently carried away as quickly as possible. Hector was brought in, presumably for questioning. I went in a VTOL and Caroline was waiting there for me. It started flying as she started asking me questions.

 

"It's been almost two days. You might wanna tell me what happened."

 

"I apprehended him. But I shot him accidentally, when he tried running further."

 

Our conversation goes on, but my head keeps on lingering on the words.

 

"Save the agents."

 

The VTOLs landed back at the base, which took us only 50 minutes at least to fly. An agent offers me coffee, but I take a few sips and run down to the lab. The body was now blinking. I try calling Caroline to evacuate, but she doesn't respond. I try shouting again. "Get the hell out of here, all of you! Tell your agents to leave! The body is a bomb!"

 

I tap on my energy shield, enhanced by a force field (ESP tech). Numerous armoured agents pop out, with one of them being a bomb disposal expert. "Please step away, sir." He shouts. The corpse starts fuzzing, emitting a sound which is similar to multiple shock grenades.

 

Drone come flying in out of nowhere. A man pops up at the same time. I realise it was Oscar. His drones shoot the body, but the explosion was relatively small scale, not even big enough to knock us down or kill us.

 

Adrian: What are you doing here? I thought you'd be

Oscar: I'm not affected. You're seeing a disguised hologram of me. I pinned your location so my drones would be coming in to help.

*Caroline comes running*

 

Caroline: Adrian, who's this? And what's going on?

Adrian: A contact of mines. Unrelated to ESP business here.

Caroline: What's his name?

Adrian: Can't tell.

Oscar: Just a hacker. Now listen, the base is gonna be in danger. It'll blow up anytime. Adrian was right all along, the body was a ruse.

Adrian: Then the real bomb is here somewhere...

 

Suddenly walls behind us collapse, revealing mercenaries with guns. The ESP return fire, but with the sheer amount of our team, we're unable to hold them back. Oscar's drone's launch rockets at them. "Move! All of you! Go!"

Caroline issues a command along the way, ordering her assistant to activate the emergency. "Code Z-1358369". She tells the other agents to do their job, while telling me to follow her.

 

As the emergency protocol gets activated, agents storm out and in, as I hear sounds of guns shooting, clacking, footsteps running. I lose track of Caroline, who is nowhere to be seen. A bunch of men come ahead of me, as I draw my weapons out and prepare to shoot.
