JLA Vol 1 #1: Pilot

(Okay, so this is sort of my first time writing some comic. Hope you guys like it! You can comment below.) Here goes:

June 17, 8:20 P.M. PST

"I'm done adding the final touches," Lex said through the comm. "The suit should be fire proof already, since I've worked countless weeks on it, given that your suit's 99% functional with lots of addons". "Thanks," I replied. "Chinese food for tonight, maybe, you know, Toronto Blue Jays again, over at your house?". "Sure, why not, you could live here for a week, besides make yourself company. Okay, now get going. Lex out." My friend stopped the transmission.

I sighed as I raced through the dark skyline of Metropolis on a busy Thursday night, 2 hours after I captured the Royal Flush Gang at the Metropolis Museum of Art. The police will handle it. I think about how things have changed a lot for me, stuff like how much heroes are even left around the world, moving to Metropolis, and I still gotta adjust. Thanks to Lex Luthor, showing me the city around. He's my best buddy around, who's a few months older than me, and probably the best you could ask for, being a ally of the Flash. You know, speaking of which, it's not easy being the only fastest man alive for now I know of. Sometimes, I could get nightmares, thinking about that horrible day, the day that Jason died--. Damnit, Wally's passing hit me hard a lot too. So much super-teams disbanding, my best friends leaving the Teen Titans, maybe I gotta accept change since the last year.

Tomorrow I have to hand in a bunch of files to my boss lady, Lois Lane. Work, work, work all again. Hope Lex could lend me his computer. Lane's tough as nails, kinda the type that "never lets go of something. She's got nearly two dozen Pulitzer Prize awards hanging around in her room, or maybe more than that, I don't know. If I don't get half my stuff in tomorrow, she'll give me extra, just so much like the previously retired boss, Perry White. She acts the way so much like him, a few of my colleagues tell me. I knew Lane for quite a while if it wasn't for Bruce, but we barely even talk until I joined the Daily Planet a few months ago.

By the way, a month ago I've met up with a new meta-human, Hal Jordan, and Tula, one my friends from the Teen Titans. We decided to form a team when Tula told me about news of Atlantis (yeah, I've been there). Her king was missing, and she was being under the cautious eyes of Black Manta ruling with an iron fist. Thankfully she thought of making a group, but operating secretly for now. She asked me to help her look for meta humans to be recruited for the team, but there doesn't seem to be many, until I met Hal, or named as Dru Zod by his birth, at Coast City. He told me everything, about his heritage, his home planet, his life right now, etc. Hal and I became fast and good friends. Guess that was unexpected, huh? I mean, making friends with an alien, living on Earth right down here, that's rare. I think of Kori, how she was like Hal, arriving here being lost, confused, socially awkward, can't blend in with us, and also not really knowing about Earth's cultures.

So then I brought Hal in and we all met with Tula at a pier in Gotham, who had finished her errands.

Tula: Who's this?

Tim: His name's Hal. Hal Jordan, but born Dru-Zod. He's a friend, you know, also being some new superhero around his own city.

Tula: You sure he's trusted? Or at least, does he have a job, or secret identity?

Hal: All of the above. I'm a pilot and part time technician working at Ferris Aircraft. Besides, I'm from Krypton, but long story short that is where I'm originally from. Most recently I'm protecting Coast City.

Tim: Told you so.

Tula: Krypton? Never heard of it. Planet of some sorts?

Hal: Yup.

Tim: Ok, Tula, so what's the plan?

Tula: Me, you, Hal, we're a secret team now. I'll keep a low profile here, but I still have to be the ambassador between the surface world and my home. Tim, you can build a base around, but I'll give a good location I know . Call for friends if you need help. And Hal?

Hal: Yes?

Tula: Do you have any fish and chips? I'm really hungry, I haven't eaten since 4 this afternoon!

Hal: Here you go. Fresh and grilled, right off the spot, thanks to Tim, I gotta remember that location.

Tim: No problem man.

Tula: (gobbles quickly) What's our codenames? We work in secret, but still we have to maintain the cover identity we have now. How about the gear and weapons?

Tim: You'll be Aquawoman, I'll be the Flash, Hal can be Superman. His symbol on his costume says so. The crest on his world means hope. Ok, I got some tech Lex can help with, start off with ear comms. I'll still be the new guy/photographer at the Daily Planet, Hal's the pilot. You're the ambassador.

Tula: Sounds cool, but why does it have to be Aquawoman?

Tim: Nah, it's for fun, I don't mean it. How about Aquagirl?

Tula: That's better. Now, let's get to work, shall we?

Tim/Hal: Sure.

Tim: We'll meet next week, Wednesday, but at Central City. I'll give that location this time.

After our conversation and Hal's first, we left the scene quickly. Then I noticed a figure on a nearby building, but it was a little dark to see. With my built in zoom-in camera, I noticed the stranger with a silver clad, whole body armoured Batsuit, including the cowl. I wondred, how could it be, a new Batman? That's impossible. Bruce and the others quit already. How could it be? When I turned back to gaze up again, the stranger was gone. Hmm. I wonder, who is this new person taking up the mantle? Should I tell my friends about it? I've got to figure out something.
