Johannesburg is one major city constantly fighting to battle on poverty and crime. Around 20% of the population in Johannesburg live in abject poverty. This staggering statistic is one thing to hear about but to have the chance to go see and document it is a completely different thing. It is awful to see so many people living in such a poor environment and opens your eyes up to how a lot of people live. Despite such high poverty the people still commonly share with neighbors and are some of the kindest people I have had the chance to meet. I think all in all if there is one thing to learn from this city is to appreciate everything you have and don't be afraid to lend a helping hand.
