Dedicated in 1898, considered artist John S. Conway's finest. I had driven past it countless times unable to view the east facing front. A fallen soldier holds a broken piece of the flag staff. A comrade has picked it up and is stepping over him. Flanked on either side soldiers display a seemingly singular intensity and focus. It is a moving tribute to the artist and the soldiers.
