These 6ft tall statues represent Franciscan saints.
They are each said to be 1/2 a ton in weight.
Although universally called Gorton Monastery it never was? Its actually a Friary.
The difference, The simple explanation is that monks live in a monastery and stay in the monastery and devote themselves to God.
“Friars, on the other hand, live in a friary and work out in the community with the poor and needy.
