Pigeon Pea Bloom

My history on this is subject to correction by our Brit friends. But this is the bloom from a Pigeon Pea I grew, the seeds being supplied by a friend from Puerto Rico. I understand that the Pigeon Pea is the same thing as the Carlin Pea of English fame, going back to Elizabeth I. They were grown in the gardens of English Monasteries Later, on this Sunday in Lent, they were fed by the Church to children as a special treat. I have heard that these are the peas referred to in "Pease porridge hot, Pease porridge cold, Pease porridge in the pot nine day old." In any event, happy Carlin Pea Sunday!
