Logging companies are destroying forests using clear cutting. Even when they use selective cutting they still cut down trees that they are not supposed too. Many of this topic is about the rainforests in South America but it is not just there. In the Eastern United States forests loss of habitat has caused 4 species to go extinct (Passenger Pigeon, Carolina Parakeet, Ivory-Billed Wood pecker, and Bachman's Warbler). The companies have been justifying it by saying the lumber is needed to build houses and many other things.
