Marbled Orb Weaver
Marbled Orb Weaver (Araneus marmoreus) found in the leaf litter while hiking to Stillhouse Hollow Falls back in early December. These are sometimes called Halloween Spiders because the large, yellow to orange colored females resemble carved pumpkins. They begin roaming the forest floor in the fall, around October, to find a place to lay their eggs before dying.
