Bradley’s Ant-eating Spider (Habronestes bradleyi). From my book, “A Field Guide to Spiders of Australia” by Whyte and Anderson: “This spider has a neat trick. It raises its legs to visually mimic ants while also exposing smell detectors on its legs. These smell detectors can locate the highly territorial and aggressive Meat Ant (Iridomyrmex purpureus) by the pheromones ants produce when they are injured or alarmed.” Happy Arachtober 13 everyone!
