EWSG Superboy/Supergirl Volume 1, Issue #8: Where There's Smoke, There's Fire

Wowza.. Waking up today, I didn't expect any of this to happen. I thought I was going to stay in my room forever. But nooo, I ended up stopping a robbery with my sister.. Then saved a cute girl from getting shot, and she kissed me.. All in a days work I guess. It feels good doing heroic things again. I need to put a stop to Pirate, but first I have to get out of here. Oh right.. I'm still talking to Alicia.. Whoops.

Superboy: "Glad you're ok Alicia. Hopefully I'll see you around sometime."

Alicia: "Wait! Before you leave, let me give you this.." She writes something down on one of the business cards, and gives it to me..

Superboy: "What's this?"

Alicia: "You're kidding right? It's my number. You know, if I need you to save me again or something.. Or if you just want to talk, that's how you can get ahold of me.." She says with a giggle.

Superboy: "Oh.. Oooohhh.. Alright then.. Well I should go, gotta go save people and all that."

Alicia: "Thanks again for saving me."

Superboy: "Yeah, no worries." I leave the building, and notice Tamara leaning against a lamppost.. Then, out of nowhere, I hear a loud screech against the concrete. I look to the side, and see a news van there.. Oh great, the Galaxy News. The door of the van opens, and a woman steps out of it. Looking around, she notices me just standing there. She motions over to her camera guy, and they both walk up to me.

Tana: "Heyy! You're that Superboy guy right?" She asks, as she points the microphone in front of me.

Superboy: "Yeah.. That's me.. Why? Who are you?"

Tana: "Tana Moon of Galaxy News. How does it feel to be Leavenworth's only hero?"

Superboy: "I wouldn't say I'm the only hero.. There's Supergirl as well!" I say with a smirk as I look over at Tamara.

"Besides, the real heroes are the police.. I'm just doing my best to help them out."

Tana: "But what you can do is so extraordinary.. You've probably travelled the world and seen some great places!! So why now? Why step out of the shadows and into the light now?"

Superboy: "Well Tana, I'm tired of injustice. Tired of seeing crime overriding this great city. So Supergirl and I decided to put a stop to it. We use our gifts to help those that can't protect themselves." As I say this, I hear a loud boom in the distance.. Everyone turns around to see a building go up in flames.

Supergirl: "Now, if you'll excuse us, we got work to do." She says, as she grabs me, pulling me away from the cameras.

Superboy: "Ok ok.. Let's go." And with that, we fly off towards the building. Once we arrive, we see a crowd outside the building. The building itself is a three-story building, with windows on the second and third floors.

Supergirl: "I'll take the first floor, you take the third.. We'll then make our way to the second floor."

Superboy: "Sounds good sis!"

I split off and fly to the third floor. Once I fly through the window, I look around. All I can see is flames, and smoke. I start to cough a bit, as I start to unleash my cold breath. The flames dissipate, and there's nothing in here. Ok? What's the point in targeting an abandoned building? Well I guess I can go down to the second floor now, maybe I'll have better luck there. I make my way down the stairwell, to the second floor. I burst open the doors, to reveal more fire and smoke. Its different this time, as I see a silhouette of someone further into the room. I walk towards the figure, yelling through the flames engulfing the room.

Superboy: "Are you ok? I'll get you out of here!"

Voice: "Yes, I'm doing just fine Superboy. So glad that you could make it! The time has come for the grande finale of my plan!" The voice replies with a cackle.

My vision starts to blur, as I see his pale white face for the first time..

Superboy: "Pirate!"

Pirate: "Night night Superboy.." He replies, as my vision goes from a blur, to complete darkness.
