Heroes of Somerset Academy Chapter 1: We are the X-Boiz!

Hope you all enjoy it. Things that are italicized is what they are thinking, bold is extra cheeky comments I added in just for fun. Rest are just narration and people talking. I put a " before lines that are speech lines.

 

It's a bright and sunny day in Sunrise City. It's the middle of april, and Somerset Academy is back in session. The students arrive, and take a seat for the opening speech. A man wearing a nice suit and tie walks onto the stage to speak.

 

Tobias Sharpe: "Good morning everyone, and welcome, all, to Somerset Academy! I apologize for the lateness of the semester, but as you well know, you just can't account for aliens invading!" He pauses, waiting for the crowd's laughter to die down before continuing, "Well, I want to thank you all for being here today, and choosing to enrol at this institution. It warms my heart to see so many young people making a decision in life to try and make a positive difference in this world. No matter where you've come from, or what may drive you, know that I am proud to see you here today, and that I eagerly wait to see what you might do with your time here. These years will shape the rest of your life, so make the most of them!"

 

After the headmaster steps down, an imposing blonde woman, steps up to the podium, saying, "Now some of you may know this already, but Somerset Academy operates slightly differently than other institutions. Here, we teach and train the next generation of legends. When you graduate, you will be joining the ranks of great heroes around the world. And as we've seen, we are far stronger working together than we operate alone. With this in mind, one of the core practices of this Academy is the building of cohesive teamwork. You will all be assigned to a specific training unit and instructor. These individuals will be your brothers and sisters during your time here. While your classes and courses may differ depending on your powers, or the programs you've enrolled in, you will nonetheless be spending the vast majority of your time together. Once assigned, these teams will not be changed, except in extreme circumstances. While you may go your separate ways upon leaving this institution, it is our hope that the bonds you forge here will last you your whole life. You will find both your assigned teams and instructors have been sent to your comms. That is all."

 

The crowd cheers and starts to flood out of the gymnasium to go to their assigned rooms. As one of the many new students, Chad Sloan is super excited to start his journey to becoming a superhero. He's got his costume on, and he struts through the halls, spiderman 3 style.. Ok ok I'm just kidding.. Only slightly. Anyways, he starts to go his assigned room. Once there he gets to the room he goes near the back and lounges in his chair waiting. Four other people come in, with a fifth coming quite a while after the others, as if he got lost. One of the guys there starts to speak, as he looks around the room at everyone.

 

Dude: "You all look so cool! Holy crap!!! Uhh my name is uhhm silver lance by the way!! Nice to meet you all. I guess I should probably show you all my abilities then".. With one arm, he fires off a beam of light at a chair. "I can also heal with my other arm.. oh and I can fly. What can you do?" He says to the person wearing a beige outfit.

 

Beige outfit dude: "I am Mushroom Man!!" He taps something on his wrist, and all the sudden 3 other people appear out of nowhere.

Barely Beige Man: "I'm Barely Beige Man!"

Macadamia Man: "I'm Macadamia Man!!"

Frank: "I'm Frank! he says very excitedly."

The other 3: Nobody cares Frank!!! They all say with a look of disgust on their face.

 

They all seem to have the exact same outfit on, just with a different shade of beige. They all pull out their pistols, and line up. They shoot, and they fire off blasts that are way larger than the guns themselves. The guy with the pentagon symbols on him, and the crazy armor gets hit, and shrugs it off. They ruin most of the room.

 

Mushroom Man: "I can also teleport."

 

Armor dude: "I am Neverdie!!! As you all saw, I can take crazy hits. I'll never die!!!!" He says with a slight smirk.

 

Chad Sloan tries to stay calm and decides to introduce himself. "Suhh dudes. I'm Faultline. I can basically create and manipulate the earth and do whatever I want with it."

 

The second to last person that enters seems to have his costume themed around america. He speaks up.

 

America dude: "I am Lieutenant Liberty! I fight for truth, justice, and the american way. Nice to meet you all! May justice rain from above onto all evil doers."

 

The last one that has yet to introduce himself looks totally out of it, as if he hears somethings, and everything else is drown out.

 

Out of it dude: "I'm Wiley! I also work at Muchaco's Burgers."

 

Faultline: "Nice to meet you all!"

 

They all wait for a few minutes before someone else enters the room. He looks around for somewhere to sit, but the chairs are mostly broken, so Faultline creates a chair for him to sit on.

 

Teacher: "Uh thanks.. Hello, I'm Simon Grey, and I'll be your instructor for your stay at Somerset. I see you all have gotten to know each other.. Thats great." He says with no enthusiasm. It looks like he has a bottle with him, probably not with water inside.. He continues on. "I will be giving you your assignments, and all that. Yada yada yada. Check your badges often, as that is where you'll receive most of the info you will need." He clearly looks quite bored as he's talking. "Your first assignment is to go and help scavenge lost heirlooms on the west side of the city that got hit the hardest by the invasion. While you are there helping out, you give any alien tech you may find to the authorities there. I know it's a boring job, but it has to be done."

 

Liberty: "Justice is never boring!!"

 

The team goes out and heads towards the monorail. On the way they see a huge crowd surrounding someone. Faultline floats above to see who it is. Silver lance asks around whats the big fuss. "He's Joel Angel, how do you not know who he is?" Joel Angel essentially is a stereotypical pop singer. Got the good looks, and girls all love him.

 

Fautline: "I love his music, it's the perfect workout music!!!"

 

Silver Lance suddenly says that he's apart of the Joel Angel hate club online. He breaks through the crowd and points to Joel Angel.

 

Silver Lance: "We challenge your team to a duel!!!"

 

Joel Angel: "Who are you?"

 

Silver Lance: "We are the X-Boiz!!!"

 

It was in that moment where the whole team face-palmed in shame. Mushroom Man even went to his inter-dimensional pub to get away from this incident.

 

Joel Angel: Who am I to turn down a challenge? I'll give another great show to everyone! Just state when and where.

 

Silver Lance: "Oh... I didn't actually think that through.. Uhmm."

 

Joel Angel: "How about the arena then, at sundown tonight?"

 

Silver Lance: "Sure. Be prepared to get wrecked."

 

Oh my, what are we getting ourselves into? Faultline thought to himself, as he and the team left to go to their assignment.
