Ol' Jack: "Hey storm, give me your best shot... I can take it!"
Pitiless rainstorms devasted the NW of Italy in the past two days, causing great damages and deaths also in the valleys where I love to hike. The number of Covid cases continue to rise, Worldwide... And I will not spend any word about work and economy to avoid sounding too depressing...
Everything makes the next winter looks like a long, cold storm...
Well, this lonely tree, boldly waiting for the storm, made me remember a quote from Jack Burton, alias Kurt Russel, in the old, fancy film, Big trouble in little China:
'Just remember what ol’ Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big old storm right in the eye and says: Give me your best shot. I can take it!'
At least, I hope...
This is Valle Stretta, Vallée Etroite in France. Once the most western portion of Italy, now part of France, after WWII. Black clouds gather above the distant summits of Monte Thabor and Grand Seru.

Temporali spietati hanno devastato il nord-ovest dell'Italia negli ultimi due giorni, causando grandi danni e vittime anche nelle valli dove amo fare escursioni. Il numero di casi Covid continua ad aumentare, ovunque nel mondo... E non spenderò una parola sul lavoro e sull'economia per non sembrare troppo deprimente ...
Tutto fa sembrare il prossimo inverno una lunga e fredda tempesta ...
Ebbene, questo albero solitario, in attesa della tempesta, mi ha fatto ricordare una citazione di Jack Burton, alias Kurt Russel, nel vecchio, stravagante film Grosso guaio a China town:
«Ricordatevi cosa fa il vecchio Jack Burton quando la terra trema, frecce avvelenate cadono dal cielo e le colonne del paradiso tremano. Sì, Jack Burton guarda la grande tempesta dritto negli occhi e dice: Dammi il tuo colpo migliore. Posso prenderlo!'

Questa è la Valle Stretta. Un tempo la parte più occidentale d'Italia, ora parte della Francia, dopo la seconda guerra mondiale. Nuvole nere si raccolgono sopra le lontane vette del Monte Thabor e del Grand Seru.
