U.S. 78 Median Project-Augusta
This project covers a roughly 3-mile section of Gordon
Highway/U.S. 78 beginning at the interchange with U.S. 25/Peach Orchard Rd and ending at the
intersection with Walton Way. The project primarily consists of removing the existing metal median
guardrail and replacing it with concrete median barrier, but will also include adding decorative-style
lighting and a mill and overlay of the wearing course to revitalize the driving surface. Structural
improvements to the four bridges in this corridor, as described in the table below, will accommodate the
additional load from the added concrete barrier and lighting fixtures. Some minor landscaping will also be
done to improve overall aesthetic.
