Sterculia foetida

Common Name: Java olive. Medium to large tree native to Indonesia. Large woody pods split open to reveal edible nuts about 1 inch long; eaten roasted. Large palmate leaves. This species seem to go dormant in the winter in Hawaii. Growth can be rapid in the spring and summer. Fertilize several times per year. Drought tolerant once established.
