Highlands Trail
In relation to the two previous pics, here's the story: This picture doesn't look like much, but somewhere beyond those trees and up that hill is a big mama bear with her cubs. Unfortunately I have no pictures of them. I was walking the trail drifting into inner thought and I see a big black bear smoothly striding down a hill towards the trail that I'm walking on. But it's not coming towards me - it wasn't even looking at me. It was within 30 feet and my instincts kicked in to turn around and walk away calmly and make noise. I backtracked a little, stopped. Made more noise and saw that it wasn't following me so I continued on the trail and then heard human voices. A couple walked past me and I asked if they saw the "big ass bear" and they replied that they saw the cubs running up the hill. I'm not sure if they saw big mama. Anyways, I believe I and the other hikers accidentally interrupted these bears' feeding time, hence the hole and the dead rodent that was pulled out of it. But yeah, big bear!
