This Was UP
I'd went out to the Pacific Northwest in June of 79 and was really working on getting BN Alco's with mixed results at best between the weather and Alco's being buried in consist. The motel I stayed at for a few nights was in The Dalles just across the Columbia and downstream from Wishram. After the second night it became obvious that not to long after sun up there would be at least a pair or even three eastbound UP hotshots roll by just across the street from the motel. I was really locked in on the Alco's across the Columbia and didn't come out here to shoot the UP. That was something I could do a lot closer to home in WY or NE.. Our last day there with a BN lineup in hand and nothing on it until after 10AM gave me some free time and I shot the UP hotshots as Fast forty 8019 leads 6943 and 6924 east with 57 cars at The Dalles.
