Not Often Seen
SD45's were common during the entire existence of WC in the Upper Peninsula but not often running like this set long hood out. Train LO-34 heads west out of Trout Lake with 71 cars on July 3, 1994. This crew was confronted with the power positioned like this at Soo yard and didn't bother wasting time turning the units as they were more inclined to get to Gladstone ASAP so they could get an early quit to take rest and get a early start home the next day to be done for some afternoon/evening 4th of July celebrating back at Sault Ste. Marie. Engineer Kenny and conductor Ron were ex SOO and could get over the road in a hurry. I was never fond of long hood out but it was nice to capture it rarely as WC did there best N&W/Southern impersonation:)
