A Simple Desk Job
So I've been busy reworking a bedroom in the house. I've been wanting to replace some of the dated elements in the room to reflect where I am in my life right now - a more simpler, less fussy me. So, I found this desk (at the bottom) at a thrift shop for $30. It's a very inexpensive version of one I eventually would like to have - a far more expensive one. But, for $30, how could I pass it up? So with some minor sanding and a spiffy paint job, it looks simply fine (as seen in the top image).
Then I had to have this particular chiar to accompany this desk. Unfortunately, in mint condition, this particular chair runs from over $300 to $415. I so wanted one in mint condition. But, after a month-and-a-half of searching for one on Craig's List and eBay, I found two similar ones, dated to 1951 made by General Fireproofing, for a price of $60 for the pair - a price I could not go wrong with. They actually are in faily good condition, with slight scratches on the aluminum frame and orange cushion seats, which I will re-upholster in black vinyl.
So, while the desk only cost me $30, it cost me quite a bit of time and effort, but hey, my whole life seems to run in this pattern. So, I just go with it.
