Built to Last?

PB15 448 and AC16 221A make for stark contrasts in more ways than one.

While the PB15's were an improvement on the original B15 design and constructed with a long service life in mind, the AC16's were designed to be built as quickly as possible during the height of World War II.

With a design life of only five or so years, the seventy three year old Baldwin looks set to continue in steam for many years to come.
