Langstone level crossing
A page from a calendar dated 1991 that I was impressed enough with to save, even though it has faded. By an unknown artist, it depicts A1X 'Terrier' 32646 heading for Havant with a train from Hayling Island, while a Southdown bus travelling in the same direction heads the queue at the crossing gates. The date will be late '50s early '60s, as the loco bears the later BR totem.
What intrigued me is that the artist has painted the loco travelling chimney first towards Havant, whereas every photograph I have ever seen of this branch in BR days shows the loco travelling bunker first to Havant. Clearly the artist considered some licence was necessary for a better painting, and I applaud him or her :-)
